Netherlands will play Scotland in what will be the second Group B fixture for both sides in the ongoing Desert T20 competition in the United Arab Emirates. The match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Both teams were successful in their respective matches before coming into this one. While Netherlands beat Oman in their opening match in the competition, Scotland defeated Hong Kong in the opener on Saturday.
Michael Rippon was the pick of the bowlers for Netherlands with figures of 15/1 from his four-over spell the other day. However, Timm van der Gugten, Paul van Meekeren, Ahsan Malik and Roelof van der Merwe all got in on the act with one wicket each to limit Oman to 146/7 in the first period of play.
Netherlands completed the chase with four deliveries to spare with Rippon and Wesley Barresi leading the effort early on before van der Merwe killed the game later on. While Barresi top-scored with 48 runs, Rippon had scored 40. Van der Merwe hit an unbeaten 35 runs off just 15 deliveries to help secure a big win for the Dutch contingent.
In the other game, twin fifties from Calum McLeod and Richie Berrington helped Scotland finish with 189/3 from their 20 overs. While McLeod made 60 runs off 34 deliveries, Berrington made 60 off 39 deliveries on the occasion. Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey also made good contributions from the top of the order.
Some good work on the field as well as a wicket a piece from Mark Watt, Bradley Wheal, Josh Davey and Safyaan Sharif helped Scotland limit Hong Kong to 165/6 during the second period of the contest.
Going into this upcoming contest, both sides will be aware that a win will virtually guarantee a place in the semi-finals. While McLeod and Berrington will be the two key players for Scotland, Netherlands will look to Rippon to star with both bat and ball.
Match starts at 7 pm local time (3 pm GMT).
