Basnahira Dundee Cricket play Nagenahira Nagas in the eighth match of the Sri Lanka Premier League 2012.
8 pm Sri Lanka time (2.30 pm GMT), August 17
Pallekele International Stadium, Pallekele
Basnahira Cricket Dundee kick-started their campaign in the Sri Lanka Premier League 2012 with a crushing victory over Kandurata Warriors thanks to a T Dilshan special. However, playing matches on successive days seemed to have taken the sting out of their performance and they collapsed to 136 in their 20 overs against Uva to lose the game.
Nagenahira is the team in form, the only side to have won both their games so far. While they were a tad lucky to edge out Ruhuna in a rain-affected opener, they raced off to an easy win chasing 160 against Kandurata in their second encounter.
Basnahira Dundee Cricket and Nagenahira Nagas have never played before this encounter.
Basnahira Dundee Cricket v Nagenahira Nagas betting odds:
With two victories in two games, Nagenahira go into the game against the powerful Basnahira side as minor favourites – 10/11 at Ladbrokes
to 1/1 (Stan James
) for Dilshan’s team to win their second game.
While Dilshan remains their player to watch out given his all-round prowess, Basnahira need contributions from some of their other batsmen. Daniel Smith’s lack of form at the top of the order will be worrying but his keeping skills should keep in the playing 11.
Jeevan Mendis had a decent previous outing and he will look to build on it.
Imran Nazir had missed out on selection in the first game that his side played but his swashbuckling innings in the second showed everyone what they had missed. He will retain his place in the Angelo Mathews-led side. He will open with Ahmed Shehzad.
Mathews had a fruitful outing as well with the bat but he will not be able to bowl yet. Ajantha Mendis and Ben Laughlin remain difficult bowlers to get away.
