The Pakistan Cricket Board had requested their South African counterparts to change the schedule dates in order to be able to free up some dates for the PPL 2013. The first ever edition of the Pakistan Premier League will be played in 2013 and the PCB is taking big strides to ensure the start of the tournament.

Speaking to popular cricket website, Cricinfo.com, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said, “We wanted to expand our window (for the T20 league), but they (CSA) didn't agree so we decided to continue as per the Future Tours Programme. CSA told the PCB that they had already announced and sold tickets and it was not possible to make any change."

The reason why the PCB wanted a bigger window was to avoid a clash with the Indian Premier League 2013 which begins in the first week of April.

It has been rumoured that the PPL will look to include foreign cricketers which will be a big coup given the lack of international cricket that the country has seen.
